Colin Gilmore / Shawnee Kilgore in concert at Rainshadow Recording - Fort Worden State Park

Last October we were visiting the folks Texas way.
Naturally we headed for Old Quarter downtown Galveston for some R&R and to feed our souls. Good people, good music, good vibes.
One of the nights we were fortunate to catch Colin Gilmore and Nicolette Good. Their voices were well matched, they sounded great together, both know how to complement another artist's voice and sound.

From the desk of Everett Moran:

Growing up in Texas in the 1970s, I was influenced early on by the many fine singer-songwriters who came to define the “Austin” sound, although they hailed from all over the state: folks like Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Willis Alan Ramsey, Jerry Jeff Walker… The Texas Panhandle proved to be particularly fertile ground, yielding some of the finest songwriters ever, including Buddy Holly, Guy Clark, Mac Davis, Robert Earl Keen, as well as Joe Ely, Butch Hancock and Jimmie Dale Gilmore who, when performing together, are collectively known as The Flatlanders.
Colin Gilmore grew up in Lubbock TX, steeped in the songwriting tradition that has come to define the area. His dad, Jimmie Dale, was an early influence, of course, as were Buddy Holly and Townes Van Zandt, but also bands including The Clash and The Pogues. While the genetics are undeniable when you hear him sing, it did not take long for Colin to establish his own identity and style as both a songwriter and performer, becoming well respected in his own right. The Huffington Post dubbed his album, The Wild and Hollow, “BEST AMERICANA/SINGER-SONGWRITER ALBUM OF 2013. Sylvie Simmons at Mojo described Colin as a “West Texas Nick Lowe… instant sing-along quality.”
Touring with Colin is the Bellingham-born, Austin-based singer-songwriter, Shawnee Kilgore. Her most recent solo release, A Long and Precious Road, earned her a place among Texas Music Magazine’s albums of the year, as well as being named their #1 Songwriter of Distinction, an accolade shared by Kacey Musgraves and Leon Bridges.
